Today I dragged poor Mrs. Kaadian across Stockholm to the Scandinavian Photo store in Kungsholm. I wanted to buy a new tripod. I already have 2 very good tripods. Unfortunately one is in Arizona, in storage and the other is back in San Jose. Don’t do me much good here. So I ended up buying a lightweight Manfrotto tripod and a head that cost more than the tripod ! I may well move the head to the heavy tripod when I return to California. After that I made poor Mrs. Kaadian walk along the water through Gamla Stan, Old Town to the Lush store that she has been lusting after.
In the evening I went for a walk, new tripod strapped to my back-back, up to the Observatory Hill. I was hoping I might be able to catch a glimpse of the Perseid meteor shower. But the experts were right, the full moon + city lights = no chance to see anything. One day I will get to see them !
The first picture in this post is a close view of the Engelbrektskyrkan church. It is only a couple of blocks away from our apartment. Those white spots in the first image, I thought they were “hot pixels”. Turns out no, they are actually stars. I’m almost proud of myself that I manged to get something celestial on my night out.
From the main street, Sveavägen, near where i catch the underground or T-Bana to work, you can see this see Engelbrektskyrkan church in the distance, rising above the crest of the hill.
You can also see Engelbrektskyrkan from the Observatory Hill.
